PERSONAL PROFILE
Following his graduation from the University of Louisville, Mr. Mann was commissioned as an officer in the United States Marine Corps, serving in the Western Pacific at the conclusion of the Vietnam War. Later, while on active duty, he obtained a Master of Public Administration degree at the University of Southern California.
After leaving the Marines, he attended the University of Louisville School of Law. Following graduation, he became a prosecutor in Louisville, ultimately becoming the Chief Juvenile Prosecutor for the county. His hard-nosed, no nonsense attitude earned him the nickname of "the Ayatollah."
In 1986, he was admitted to the California Bar, and he began practice at an insurance defense firm in Los Angeles, where he was made a partner after four years. He has handled cases against some of the best known members of the plaintiffs' bar, for the most part in the areas of motor vehicle liability, premises liability, and construction defect cases, among others. He has tried approximately 35 civil cases to conclusion in courts of unlimited jurisdiction and about 15 more in limited jurisdiction matters.
Ed is married and has two children. Regarding the children, "the apple didn't fall from the tree." His daughter graduated from the University of San Diego School of Law in 2005 at the top of her class. She is now a Deputy District Attorney in San Jose.
His son served a combat tour in Iraq with the 101st Airborne Division and has returned to college in Southern California. |
